Borrowing Fashion

One in seven of us contemplate it to be a fashion fail to be seen or photographed in the same outfit more than once. It is said the the newer generations crave freshness, and creativity. With a large 60% purchasing much more than people 15 years ago, the thought for material, transports, labour and many more cost come into mind.

It was brought to peoples attention that the possibility of renting clothing could save manufacturing costs whilst making it more convenient for consumers to buy a possibly expensive piece of clothing at a lower cost, as well as wearing it for the occasion desired, and being able to return to at the end of the real period. After having a photo taken in it of course.shanna-camilleri-190745

I feel by introducing a program such as access vs ownership will open a lot of new doors. I think it will help a lot of people wealthy and not so wealthy to experience fashion as high end as it goes, being able to rent out piece of clothing is gong to be the future. its a fast and easy was to pick out a full outfit for any occasion, whilst being able to wear it, photograph it, and return in afterwards.

Not only is it going to help freshen up the fashion industry by helping the environment and also by giving clothing a longer service life. As clothing will be able to exist for longer and be worn by different people Interpreted into different fashion trends, whilst also reducing carbon dioxide emissions because of  less manufacturing due to less need of making so many piece of the same clothing items. It is said that by introducing a system such like this, it will become extremely popular and a key trend in the future to come.

I think this system will work best with locally first, just trying it out in one country first, seeing how people treat the clothing or accessories when they are returned hopefully in the same condition or if they are returned at all. I think there will need to be a strong program in place possible a deposit depend on the more expensive items that can be rented, to make sure no one can walk all over them and possible not return items or return item damaged! so i feel once they have mastered the service and have put proper paper work in place, the they can branch out and introduce this service through out the world for everyone to try and test out.

Millennials

This generation that we call the millennials, are seen as a self-interested, unfocused and entitled generation. They have grown up in a period in time where the corporate environment and lack of leadership have created a wall that they feel they are too weak to get through. They have to deal with the backlash of the previous generations judging them on how they are evolving. What they wear, how they speak, what they’re doing full stop.

Millennials are a generation that have evolved and become there own. They have created major fashion mile stones, taking fashion to the next level creating more diverse culture, feeling naturally more enthusiastic about their attitudes and political battles in the moving economy, with hundreds and thousands judging there every decision.

Their looked down on because they are seen as spoiled spoon feed babies growing up in a Instagram, Facebook world. When actual in reality we have an entire generation growing up with lower self steam than the previous generation. They have become addicted to phone, computers, tables! the internet. but is it their fault. shutterstock_311472353-850x476

I think Simon Sinek is 100% right, he explains in more depth that engagement in social media and self phones releases a chemical called dopamine. Dopamine is a highly, highly addictive chemical. The same chemical released when smoking, drinking and gambling. All these things have age restrictions, so why doesn’t social media. And why is this generation blamed for there knowledge, because when it comes to politics, science and technology they are the most knowledgable.

I would say millennials are probably the most hard working generation due to competition and unstable economy, due to that the baby boomers and generation x created. Millennials are said to have higher university attendance rates then the previous generation X, and a higher percentage of young adults stuck in low paid jobs and low wage industries is rising from 23% to 33% between 2000 and 2014, and still decreasing till this day. The smarter these generations get the least appreciated they seem to feel.

Shopping Spreeee

I feel that fashion consumers including myself find shopping at this day and age very motivating, as there is a lot of outfit inspiration in stores and online. I find this useful as its a way of imaging the outfit your thinking of buy or a way of creating outfit ideas before you buy the clothing. Especially when the clothing is put on mannequin or models, when shopping online for example, a lot of online stores use famous people like Kim Kardashian or well known influencers like YouTubers to wearing their clothing in exchange for having the clothing sent to them for free. By doing this, consumers are able to see the online stores affordable clothing on popular well known people, whilst also seeing how these people style the clothing. This makes people want to purchase these clothing items so they can wear and style the clothing how they like or copy how the influencers have styled it completely. whilst not having to spend hundreds or thousands on a single outfit. 159BBE27-0F48-4A3B-A03E-B1891DB68137

Kim Kardashian West is a very popular celebrity, primarily for her bold fashion choices. Kim is often promoting clothing brands on her instagram as she has a very large following and can reach a wide range of customers. Kim is constantly creating and bring back trends. For example she made it popular and fashionable to wear cycling shorts in an outfit and joggers with heels.

Her whole is in the public eye and is looked up to for their audacious fashion . Her sister Kourtney has not long ago collaborated with an affordable clothing brand called pretty little thing, to bring out a limited clothing line, which they got her to promote all over her instagram as she too has a large following.maxresdefault

online shopping has become increasingly popular throughout the past few years, with less and less people actually going into store to purchase clothing and other personal goods. Most online stores will promote their clothing on popular influencers and even some celebrities, as a way of gaining popularity and getting their brand out there, whilst convincing customers to purchase the clothing.

I prefer online shopping because there are more promotional offers, like various discount codes and student discount and other flash sales for example, 30% off for 12 hours only alone with free next day delivery. By doing offers such as these, the online stores are able to draw customers in persuading them to spend money as they  are guaranteed to save money. Its also a much more convenient way of shopping, especially for people who have very busy life styles and might not have the time to go out shopping for the day, they will find it extremly relaxing to go home after a long day and browse through a website of there choice to look at what they desirer. As well as requesting home and next day delivering at a time most convenient for themselves.

Style Bubble

IMG_7527Since creating my own blog I have become obsessed with wanted to grow my blog and with viewing other people’s blogs. Not only fashion based, but any blog I come across. I love reading about people lives, hobbies, food, travels… and viewing the images they showcase alone with there stories.

Susie Bubble was one that stood out because of her creativeness in providing new mind-sets in the fashion world and the adjacent creative world. Of course, we would all love cool outfit inspo ideas for our dream closets, but don’t stress Susie Bubbles blog is a mixture of serious and carefree behind the scenes concepts in fashion.

Susie Lau is also very active on Instagram, showing off behind the scene picture of her life, showing the real work it takes to create a beautiful Chanel garment and showing off her Hong Kongese background in some posts.0E5A0933

Fashion Journey

Fashion can change and create moods wherever you are in the world. Fashion can enhance and modify emotions in each and everyone of us. Fashion is a way for you to express and explore your personality to another level, not having to follow any guid lines but your own.

Throughout my education all over the world, i have become particularly interested in the direct correlation between fashion and society, I feel fashion is an amazing way in which people can express their personality and body language by choosing what they wear, what the put on for the world to see each and everyday, and how this present themselves.

Growing up throughout the world in four different countries during the earlier 2000’s I was able to experience multiple trends and cultures for example; being from New Zealand and being born and growing up in the late 90’s early 2000’s, people didn’t care so much what others thought about what they wore and how well they could piece clothing together, still till this day people have that perception about fashions and themselves, although the fashion trends have moved on and most of the people have also, there is still those who have the ‘stuff it’, “i woke up like this” attitude towards fashion.

Moving to Fiji at the age of 9 this was a completely different atmosphere, not only with fashion but society also. Fashion really non-existent over there, people didn’t have any trends to follow or people to look up to. People would just wear what they had and what was comfortable, mainly to complement their hot climate and care free lifestyle.

Then finally moving to the Wales in the UK when i was 11. This was like moving to a different planet. people were more vibrant and exspesive with there fashion and how they presented themselves. There was a variety of trends and fashion influencers for people to follow.

“Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It’s something reflected from our soul to the outside world—an emotion.”—Alber Elbaz
